Rev. WILLIAM J. TURNER
Pastor
Reverend William Turner is a native of Vineland, New Jersey. The youngest of nine children, his parents and older siblings invested early in his spiritual growth and taught him about God. His father took him to church every Sunday in Glassboro, New Jersey, and young William used this foundation and continued to build his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Reverend Turner received his Bachelor of Science from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and it was on this campus that he began his very first ministry. Always passionate about ministry and education, Reverend Turner became a teacher shortly after graduation and used his career as a platform to minister to young black males. He later received his Master of Special Education from Wilmington University and continued to further his studies in the word of God. He formally accepted the call to ministry in 2001, and became an Associate Minister at the Union Baptist Temple (UBT)
under the leadership of Reverend Albert L. Morgan, in 2002, where he remains active in ministry today. During his tenure at UBT, Reverend Turner has taught weekly Bible study and Boot Camp lessons, preached once a month at various prisons in south Jersey, led the youth ministry as Youth Minister, planned and implemented a variety of activities and service projects, participated in weekly ministerial leadership classes, served on the Marriage Ministry, and preached during Wednesday night and Sunday morning services as assigned or requested. He completed his studies under the Bethany Baptist Association and became an ordained minister in October 2020. Effective January 2022, Reverend Turner was appointed to the office of Executive Pastor of the Union Baptist Temple, and installed as the 9th pastor of the Union Baptist Temple on May 26, 2024.
Outside of the church walls, Reverend Turner also serves as the Youth Director for the New England Missionary Baptist Convention and is a member of the Vineland African-American Community Development Corporation. He has been in education for over twenty years, spending most of his career in the classroom. Now in his fourth year in school administration, he currently serves as Vice Principal at the F.W. Holbein Middle School in Mt. Holly, NJ. Ever the sports fan, Reverend Turner enjoys playing all sports, but has a special love for basketball. He was recently inducted into Stockton
University’s Athletic Hall of Fame, an honor dear to his heart. When not at work or playing sports, Reverend Turner enjoys family time with his beautiful wife of close to a decade, Gerri, and their two amazing children, daughter Whitley Grace, and son William Gabriel.
Life’s Verse: Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
